Henkel extends funding for development of novel and sustainable laundry detergents
In 2014, Henkel and RWTH Aachen University established a joint center of excellence named Henkel Innovation Campus for Advanced and Sustainable Technologies (HICAST). After an initial period of three successful years, HICAST was prolonged for two additional years. HICAST is coordinated at RWTH by Prof. Ulrich Schwaneberg (ABBt-Bioeconomy) and represents an interdisciplinary research cluster at the interface of protein engineering, catalysis and new molecule synthesis (Prof. Regine Palkovits; ITMC) and physical chemistry (Prof. Walter Richtering; IPC). HICAST aims to develop an in-depth knowledge on interactions of laundry ingredients to design more sustainable and bio-based detergents of the future. HICAST is co-managed by the senior scientist Dr. Mehdi D. Davari.
